Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJM)

This program is specially meant for candidates who aspire for acareer in mass media and communication, and imparts trainingin print, radio, television, internet and corporate communication.Throughout the program, impetus will be placed on a criticalapproach to media and special attention will be given tocommunication research. In the final semester, students havethe option of specializing in either television production orcorporate communication.

Objectives:

• To provide intensive theoretical and practical knowledge invarious media professions ranging from the management of media organization to research.
• To provide an integrated perspective of media functioning along with a fair amount of exposure to technical know-how.
• To hone the student’s analytical skills. Completion of this program would open vistas for fulfilling careers in various
  media like television production, corporate advertising,photography and related fields.

Eligibility: 3 year Graduation.

Minimum duration: 2 years (4 semesters).

Maximum duration: 4 years.

Minimum counseling and hands-on experience at Learning Centres: 160 hrs/semester.

Provision for lateral entry to the second semester of MAJM:

Eligibility:

• BAJM from a recognized University OR
• 3 year Graduation with one year Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication or 1 year work experience in the field related to Journalism and Mass Communication thereafter.

Note: In this lateral entry scheme, students have to appear and pass the first semester examination. Books of first semester will be supplied by the University and internal assessment will be completed at the Learning Centre.
